•    Certain types of medications like steroids, cancer therapy drugs, oral contraceptives, etc.

The early stage of gum disease is known as gingivitis and in this stage, your gums would be red, swollen and might bleed too. As this is an early stage of the disease it can be reversed by a professional dentist. Periodontitis is an advanced stage of gum disease where 47.2% of the adults suffer from chronic disease in the US. This can also lead to loss of bone support for your teeth as there is loss of tissue. At this stage, you might feel that your teeth are getting loose and might move in the mouth. Aggressive periodontitis also has common features like severe loss of tissue and bones. It might be in a particular area of the mouth or entire mouth.

Research also says that the severity of gum diseases might also be linked to various health conditions of the patient like diabetes or stroke. There are also chances that you have gum disease and you might not experience any kinds of signs. So, it’s important for you to go for regular dental checkups so that the doctor would examine the actual condition of your teeth and gums. Based on the condition and the type of disease the treatment would vary from one person to another. Proper dental care at home is also important to stay away from oral diseases.
